![]() It has the Guyatone G logo on the headstock and the truss rod cover says Tokoyo Sound Co. Where it is different from all the others I have seen is the two 3 position rocker switches on the upper horn. It has 2 single coil pickups with massive slugs, trem arm, 1 vol and 1 tone knob in the usual spot. I am wondering if I have one that was not mafe for export. I have been searching the web for a couple weeks, and can’t find a single photo, drawing or ad for this one. I am trying to identify a Guyatone that I got at a swap meet in the S.F. I have had many guitars over the last 47 years. Even in its original state its value is only about 1,500 at best. Now before someone has a hissyfit that i’ve ruined a “vintage” guitar, and diminished it’s value, remember it had already been painted five times before. An outstanding job! Shoot, ol Wilson Picket hisself played this guitar back in 66 or67. I just wish he could have seen the finished guitar. passed and he did get to see the oak veneer and he really liked it. I had started the refinish project before Charles. Never stripped! Just sanded and a new color applied. This guitar had been re-painted five times previously. I replicated the pickguard in carbon fiber. I refinished the guitar by veneering the top in oak and a sunburst finish was added. I’m a short fella, as are my extremities. I’ve been aquainted with this guitat since 1965. Though there isn’t the dry edge of the original pickups, there is enough of the old man in these to capture the grunt and clang of steel on wire and wood while their youth lends a freshness to the tone.I have (and cherish) a1957 Fender Duo-Sonic, that was “willed” to me by a very dear friend who passed on a few years ago. With sharp attack and juicy low notes it is a real pleasure to hear the different voices within the guitar. There is a softness and sparkle that has opened up new tonal possibilities. With that, a beautiful new sound has been conjured from my Tele. Carefully identifying the gauge of copper wire and counting the winds they decided on the '55 spec, Alnico V staggered pole piece design with the same gauge wire and bobbin, with an ‘aged’ finish for the bridge and using the original lipstick cover for the neck. But the lads at Bare Knuckle knew what to do. Both the bridge and the neck pickup suffered mortally. Years of touring with The Proclaimers had taken their toll. "I have to thank Bare Knuckle for rebuilding the vintage pickups on my no. I am over the moon with the finished beast and cannot wait to break her in over the next shows with Hair of the Dog - Thank You Boult & Bare Knuckle, this is a dream come true!" Having had serious back troubles all of my adult life, It was essential that the guitar was lightweight and comfortable to play, I couldn't believe what Chris and the guys at Boult have achieved - this beauty is lighter than the f*cking case I carry her in! ![]() Loading her up with Bare Knuckle's was a no brain'er, I have used Bare Knuckles on all HOTD recordings and knew the tone I desired, the Riff Raff gives me the bite I need, whilst the Stormy Monday provides warmth and soul. ![]() I needed a guitar that could handle both heaviness and soul, The Arc Angel delivers both with ease. I was completely overwhelmed when Chris said he would build me a signature model guitar and he really listened to what I was looking for in my next guitar. "Working on The Arc Angel with Boult has been nothing but a pleasure. BK pickups have an organic quality and a 'soul' that I have not heard anywhere else. We take care, work slowly replacing one at a time and they have helped me realise the sounds in my head. ![]() I am now working with BKP to replace the Pups in all my Les Pauls. The detail and weight in the tone was a truly beautiful thing. When I dropped them in the guitar I was blown away, they were the absolute embodiment of what I had described - they were magic and made my Strat come to life. I called BKP, was looked after right away and had a long phone conversation on what I wanted. I knew what I wanted tone wise, but had no idea which pickup would deliver it. But I had an issue with a 70's Strat which sounded good acoustically but was a right dog when plugged in. Although I'm obsessive about tone, I've been very unadventurous when it comes to pickups, tending to stick with what was in the guitar. "I have had an incredibly good experience with the guys at Bare Knuckle Pickups.
